sunday replay 01.02.11

It was a chilly day, but the snow is gone for now.  We had a “light” crowd, lots of folks are fighting the bugs that are going around, and we had some new faces.

Worship was incredible – again, in spite of technical issues our team still put together a great set, and the mood carried through the entire service.  Good job guys and girls.

We kicked off the new “CORE” message series with “Found to Find” – a message about evangelism.  In Philip and Nathanael’s story, we saw every believer’s responsibility to reach our to our friends, family, co-workers, etc., and help them meet Jesus. You can listen online HERE.

At the end of the service, we wrote down the names of people we know who need a relationship with Jesus and stuck them on the walls at the front of the sanctuary.  It was humbling to see how many people participated, and how many names were written down.  Going forward – our task is to pray for the people whose names we wrote down, and pray for ourselves, that God would give us opportunities to speak his truth into their lives. I’m excited about taking those names off the wall as people meet Jesus Christ this year!

I was privileged last week to spend time with our staff, and with my fellow elders and their wives. It’s an honor to serve Christ and this community alongside such a talented, wise, and caring bunch of people.  You folks are a big reason I’m convinced 2011 will be a great year of growth and ministry.

We’re getting pumped for our first ever “FUEL” meeting – we’re bringing together our ministry team leader, volunteers, and anyone else interested for a couple of hours of planning, strategy, and vision casting.  If you’re interested and available, we will meet at 10 AM this Saturday.

52 Weeks/52 Books – I’m re-reading a true classic “Spiritual Leadership” by Oswald Sanders. We are reading it together as a staff for our personal and professional development.  I’m also reading “Shattered Dream” by Dr. Larry Crabb, and I’ll be blogging more about that one later.

Have a great week!
