Sunday Replay 11.02.08

Another great Sunday!  Attendance was strong, and we had several new faces.  Worship was great, and Anita’s song was fantastic – exactly what a lot of folks needed to hear!

We had a good report from our 2nd annual Halloween Hot-dog giveaway – over 200 hot-dogs given away along with pop and candy.  We were completely out of everything by 8:00 PM.  It was a lot of fun meeting people, and even more fun refusing money from people who wanted to donate.  We are definitely going to do it again next year – can we give away 250 hot-dogs?  300???

life-stewardshipWe began a new message series, “Building a Life of Stewardship” focusing on how we use the resources God has given to us.  We reached back into the Old Testament and looked at the story of King David emptying his pockets to give to the building of the Temple.  The leaders of Israel followed their king’s example and gave BILLIONS of dollars to construct the Temple – the same Temple Jesus Himself walked and taught in over a thousand years later.

Why did they do it?  Why was King David willing to give ALL of his personal wealth to the project?  Why were the people willing to give, as the Bible says, “freely” and “wholeheartedly?”  They did it because they realized they were not owners, they were stewards – nothing really “belonged” to them, they were just managing God’s stuff.  They had what they had because God had given it to them to be used to build His Kingdom.  They recognized that everything belongs to God, comes from God, and is distributed by God.

We rolled out our Operation Christmas Child project – and only two shoe boxes are left!  If you didn’t get one Sunday, and want to be involved, let me know ASAP.  Thanks for your support of this amazing mission outreach!  Let’s get busy and get those boxes filled up with good stuff.

Have a great week!
