Sunday Replay 03.09.08

Sunday was just a beautiful day!  Sun shining, snow melting – two of my favorite things!

Week Two of “Words that Change the World” found us looking at the conversation between Jesus and the Thief on the Cross.  We saw the change that took place in that condemned man – Matthew says both thieves were “hurling insults” and abuse at Jesus, but Luke reveals that one of them had his mind changed, and determined that Jesus had “done nothing wrong…”  He also prayed a simple prayer of faith: “Lord, remember me when You come into Your Kingdom.”  Jesus’ response has the potential to explode in our souls! “Today, you will be with Me in Paradise…”  The message of that incident gives us hope: If we admit our sin and guilt, and reach out in faith to Jesus, He will secure our place in Heaven with Him!  Incredible, but true!  Praise the Name of Jesus!

Our annual congregational meeting took place at the end of the service.  Financially, the church is strong – especially considering that we added two staff members last year, the increases in utilities and consumable supplies like paper, and the one-time cost of several projects and our 25th anniversary celebration.  We were also blessed to be able to give 10.5% of general fund offerings to the missions and outreaches that we support!

During the meeting we expressed appreciation to church treasurer/bookkeeper Mike Guffy.  Mike has been so faithful, and is such a man of integrity!  He volunteers his time, and does a difficult job with excellence, and we so appreciate him!

At the conclusion of the meeting, we installed Chris Ebert and Josh Evans into the ministry of deacon.  These men are both talented and sharp, they love Jesus and they love Jubilee.  We look forward to their leadership helping move Jubilee into a fantastic future!

Another great day, and the best is still to come!  Have a great week.
